Vengeance is MINE!!!!!

I have waited fourteen long, trying years but finally the sweet honey taste of vengeance is mine to savor. My daughter has fallen in love with a book, The Fault In Our Stars, and she was sitting on the couch reading—totally lost to the world. Smiling, I sat down next to her and started to talk to her. I asked her random questions. I hugged her. I lay on her arm. I moved her book so I could see what she was reading. She screeched at me to leave her alone. She complained how annoying I am. She...

Foreign Film Friday- The Ramen Girl

The Ramen Girl If you want a see a fun, odd, noodle-ful movie, then The Ramen Girl just might be the flick for you. After losing her boyfriend and being stranded in Japan, Abby loses her sanity and becomes fixated on learning to make ramen, much to the displeasure of the local ramen chef she has decided will be the one to teach her. I did have two issues with this movie. First, after a year of living in Japan, Abby still can’t speak or understand any Japanese, which I just didn’t believe and...

Now We Are Forty

So as I turned forty last week, there was a real chance that I was going to spend the day eating ice cream while hiding under the covers. However, my daughter had other plans. It turned out that I had a good day and didn’t fall into a massive depression. YAY! Go me. I’m not where I was hoping to be, or the size I was hoping to be, or as self-actualized as I was hoping to be by forty. I have a good job, three novels in various stages of editing, a hubby who puts up with me, two great happy...

Body Love

This Saturday I went to the Body Love Conference It was amazing, inspiring, and motivating! It also had moments of being really raw, honest, vulnerable, and revealing. I loved it, I didn’t want it to end, and I can’t wait for next year’s conference.Thank you to everyone who made i   Go check out the link—most of the amazing speakers (all volunteered their time to this conference) have websites and other social media connections.   What I learned: In my first seminar I did...

Writer Heaven and Haven

This weekend was the Tucson Festival of Books, or TFOB for us locals, and I was in bliss. Not only did I get to hang out with my wonderful RWA group, but I hung out with/ babysat Kristen Lamb and Piper Bayard, both as lovely and amazing in person as they are in the web. I love it when I get to meet spider friends! I threatened my way into . . . um . . . asked to moderate all of their talks at the festival, so they couldn’t escape me . . . to support and help them. I had help because Piper...

Let’s kick some bones.

Sorry Foreign Film Friday is coming on Saturday but yesterday was crazy, but in a fun way 🙂  Now onto the fun!!!! Last week hubby and I watched the BBC series Bonekickers, a show about a university archeology team  causing havoc, solving mysteries, and getting into trouble in England.  I loved the characters, although the team leader Gillian Magwilde, played by Juile Grahm, does lean a bit too much on the bitchy side sometimes. It is consistent with her character, though, and you get enough...
