The Trip

So these two comedians/impressionists travel through Northern England to review restaurants. For me this movie was a bit low on the food porn in spite of the fact that eating was a major part of the story. It was fun and the country side beautiful, but I didn’t get into it that much, probably because one of the characters is a total jerk. I didn’t like him and I didn’t sympathize with him. The other guy was pleasant, but would slip into impersonating celebrities constantly which got a bit old....

I Don’t Need Hell I Have Pants in My Closet.

That time has come again. I am down to three pairs of pants I know fit. Well, one pair that is so baggy I have to belt them, a pair of yoga pants, and one pair that fit nicely. I need to go through all of the jeans in my closet to try and find a least one more pair that fits. The weather is warming up here, and so I begin to flip through my light-weight jeans, the ones hanging up fit a few months ago. At least I think they all fit. Will they fit now? Do I dare try them on? First I have to...

I Am Not Perfect

I’ll give you a moment to recover from the shocking news . . . Better? good. As you know, I have recently published my first novel, which much to my surprise has not blazed across the literary sky crashed to earth and changed our very history. However, it has been a major catalyst of growth. Not only putting myself out to the world to be judged(ACK!), but learning to let go, trust and face my biggest fear. People have found mistakes. *GASP* I wanted to melt like Elphaba in Oz when Dorothy...

Burke and Hare

So here we have a British comedy with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica Hynes, Tim Curry, and this cast list alone should make you run out and get this movie. It’s a dark comedy about the Edinburgh medical school's need for bodies in the early 1900’s. Two men down on their luck happen upon a newly dead body and sell it for a tidy sum. They need more money, and grave robbing is out. The local police guard the cemeteries closely. So they create their own dead bodies by killing people. Even though...

Sexy Norsemen, Reality TV, and Kris Tualla

Today I have the pleasure of interviewing Kris Tualla a valued member of my local RWA chapter. Kris Tualla, a dynamic award-winning and internationally published author of historical romances, writes with a fast-paced and succinct style. Her plots are full of twists, passion, and very satisfying outcomes! Kris started in 2006 with nothing but a nugget of a character in mind, and has created a dynasty - The Hansen Series. Norway is the new Scotland! Kris is an active member of both Romance...

Review: Give Your Opinion on Opinions

As an author I crave reviews as deeply as I crave chocolate, the next great idea, and words that flow like the purest fountain of literary brilliance. However, as an author I’m very reluctant to give reviews. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, and a review after all is just someone’s opinion. You know what they say about opinions . . . . So my current plan is to take the completely wussy way out of this predicament. I plan to review books only if I would give them 4 or 5 stars. I’m still...

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame.

So if you like odd, cheesy, Chinese movies, you might enjoy this one. It made me laugh at times. Dr. Donkey Wong *snickers* and some parts were interesting with nicely done fight scenes. I won’t watch it again, but I don’t feel like I was wasting my time. This is one best enjoyed with others who will have fun laughing and heckling the movie. I would keep this teens and up, there is some nudity and violence: people burning alive and such....

What Means Home to You?

From age six to twelve I lived in Anchorage, Alaska. The Big Dipper was the first constellation I ever found and is very bright and easy to find in Alaska. When we moved from Anchorage to Walnut Creek, CA I went out night after night looking for the Big Dipper. It took a week or so, but once I found it, I felt settled and at home. I don’t know why my twelve-year-old self decided that a group of stars signified so much to me, but there you have it, and it stuck. When I moved to Tucson, AZ it...

Naps = Awesomeness

I love naps. Not only do they help me feel better, but they also make me feel indulgent because not everyone is lucky enough to be able to nap during the day. As a writer, I think napping is important because it allows my subconscious mind room to plot and plan. It also keeps me from turning into a grumpy bitch when I have stayed up late writing, plotting my next novel, reading a book, talking to my teenager (why does he only want to talk after 9pm?) or possibly maybe staying up watching a...

ROW80

Hello everyone!! I am done re-editing Phoenix child and finally coming up for air. I made myself schedule an appointment with the formatter so I would slack off too much, and I finished just in time 🙂 So I didn't do much of anything but edit and work this week, which was important but everything else got put on hold. So my goals for next week- get back into my routine. Write 1000 words a day- no interwebs until I am done. Scan blogs and read those that catch my eye- I like to do this daily so...
