For The First Time Ever

So my friends and I are at the gym. Chewy is the movie room supposedly walking on the treadmill. Amber and I are in the main cardio room, which looks over the free weight area. Such lovely views 🙂

Anyway Amber is running on the treadmill while I’m walking and thinking about doing my faster walk/jogging thing I sometimes do when Amber stops and is rubbing her leg.

Me: You okay?

Amber: I think I pulled and muscle.

Me: Do we need to stop?

Amber: Let’s cool down first, maybe I can loosen it up. I’ve never pulled a muscle before.

Wait, what? Amber played sports all through school including being part of a woman’s football league in college. She’d come to work covered in bruises, but she’s never pulled a muscle?

Me: Are you serious? All those sports and you never pulled a muscle. How is that possible?

Amber: No idea, maybe I’m just getting old.

Me: I was putting on a pair of tight jeans my legs damp from the shower and jumping up and down holding onto the belt loops and landed wrong and pulled my hamstring, and you’ve just now pulled a muscle. How is this fair?

Amber shrugs.

We cool down and Amber limps into the movie room to get Chewy who is sitting on one of the chairs watching the movie and playing on her phone. We stretched and when we get up to leave, we discover a second injury. Chewy was sitting oddly and hurt her butt. Yes, while sitting, watching a movie, in the gym, Chewy suffered an injury to her buttocks. It seemed pretty serious. 0_o

Carefully we head to the car and I keep an eye out for anything else that could possibly go wrong. And everything was fine until they took me out for lunch and margaritas, but that’s not a story you want to hear, I’m sure.

Elitsa & Stoyan was the 2007 Bulgarian entry for Bulgaria. I love the older traditional music woven in with modern beats.

I have been reading We Are Not Alone by Kristen Lamb- it’s amazing and over the next few weeks I’m going to be adding to my blog, hopefully making this more interesting 🙂 So please chime in let me now what you like and what doesn’t work for you. Have a great Monday!

Zazie is a french singer with a lot of great songs, but I this is my favorite video. It is not work safe a special treat for all my new followers 🙂 Enjoy and maybe be inspired for a story?
It’s a happy playful song. I always want to skip and twirl in circles when I hear it.
Seeing a man and daydreaming about taking all his clothes off- I’ve never done that before *tried to look innocent*

I’ve spent a lot of time with the boys so the next few Monday’s will be dedicated to female singers. The first is Marija Serifovic who won the 2007 Eurovision song contest. She has a rich voice which is full of passion and I love that she sings in her native language. I also love that she is not a magazine beauty. Marija won because she is talented not because she looks like a Barbie doll. One of the things I like about foreign media is I’m more likely to find people who look like regular people- not all of them and not every time- but when I do find talented people being celebrated no matter what their dress size, or definition on their six pack it makes me happy.

I’m not sure if everyone has already seen this video- it made the Internet circuit a while ago, but on the off chance someone hasn’t seen Playing for Change Stand By Me I wanted to share it. Playing for Change recorded street musicians from around the world and blended their music and voices together into one song- it’s amazingly beautiful.

So here is another Tarkan video- I do adore him he’s so pretty and in this one we get a good look at male middle eastern dancing- we call it belly dancing- but in Turkey it’s the normal social dance. Why yes I am planning a trip to Turkey to go clubbing how did you know?

Today’s video is a bit different. This one is from t.A.T.u. A Russian teen girl band- or at least it was when the video was made. I like it because it shows that across the world people- in this case teens- are dealing with the some of the same issues, looking for acceptance, safety, and hope. Oh might not be work safe- it has girls kissing in it.

One of the things I love about foreign music is getting a sense of where that person lives, and Seth Lakeman totally does this. You can hear his accent when he sings- I hate it when they train themselves to sing without an accent- and his songs are all revised versions of older folk songs and stories. It doesn’t hurt at all that he’s sexy as hell.
