Honestly I just mean it in a totally off hand slang kind of way. I don’t expect school to teach them the difference between broth and juice, and I did explain it- although they ignored me and kept calling it juice *shudders*
I home schooled my kids for years and even then I would see them doing something silly or not know something and I’d say “what are they teaching in schools these days’ just as a why don’t they know this- phrase and never thought anything of it.
This just reminds me how powerful words are and that what means nothing to be can spark passion in someone else. I am sorry if I offended you and I’ll try and remember to shove this phrase to the back of my mind. 🙂

I’m a firm believer that parents and caregivers are children’s primary teachers. Likely, your work kids haven’t had good role models and effective communication with adults in their home environment. Should teachers point out the difference between juice and broth? Certainly, if it comes up in conversation or when reading or whenever. Should parents or caregivers point out the difference if it comes up in the course of a day? I’d also say yes. After all, it takes a village to raise a child…

I don’t mean to take away from all your hard work on behalf of these needy children, Alica, and I’m not in your shoes. God bless your patience and unending energy for them and your support of your own family. I realize there may be a valid reason why you didn’t correct their mistake. If so, let me have it.
