Foreign Film Friday

The fourth installment of Foreign Film Friday combines my love of foreign films with my love of vampire movies. Several years ago I was caring for five teenage girls who kept squealing about how Twilight is the best vampire movie ever made. Once I was done crying my hubby and I decided to review as many vampire movies as we possibly could and put them on the web because we couldn’t let these poor kids think that Twilight was the best vampire movie ever made. One of the films we reviewed was...

Wise, Witty, and Wacky Wednesday

Today’s video is longer, it’s from a poet and teacher named Taylor Mali. I have watched this over and over again, and every time it makes me cheer and shout for teachers. So what do you make? It doesn’t have to be anything big. Do you make great bread? Beautiful gardens? A good listener? Maybe you save lives, help peole find their dreams, or give hope? It is too easy for most people to list all of the things they suck at and all the places...

Music Monday

Hello every one I missed you last week! My work took all the kids to the beach and California. Two adults, ten kids, eight hour drive down windy freeway in a top heavy 15 passender van- both ways- two days at the beach- please don't let the undertoe take anyone out to sea- you need more sunscreen- and a day of Disneyland- wait where did she go??  I know the line is long, it'll be fine- ACK! Over all it was fun, but I'm very glad to be back home! Today I have a fun happy song to share. I adore...

Vacation

Hey all I'll be on vacation this week. I'm sure there is a way to make posts magically appear for me, but alas I don't know how. Hope you have a great week and I'll post when I get back. Alica

Foreign Film Friday

For the third installment of Foreign Film Friday I’ve picked a family movie, The Secret of Roan Inish. This is a wonderful Irish story of a young girl who discovers the history of her family, and takes them back to their ancestral island in order to save them. Watching Fiona learn about her family, and their stories, and trying to decide what is real and what is just a fairy tale is delightful. In the end it’s all about family and love and staying true to who you really are....

Wise, Witty, and Wacky Wednesday

Today we have a quote from Mark Twain- “'Classic.' A book which people praise and don't read.” There are lists of classic books- books which every one ‘should’ read. Books which are quoted in our television shows and movies, which define the education and manner of the person quoting them. So, have you read any ‘classic’ books? What is your favorite? Which one did you hate? My favorites Dracula, Frankenstein, Winnie the Pooh, Beatrix Potter’s Stories - do those last two count? I can name a...

Music Monday

Sorry for the late post- I woke up in a bitchy mood and far too much to take care of, maybe if I'd listened to today's song I would have felt better sooner.   I love Shakira. She is so sexy and her music always makes me want to dance. I play her CD when I clean the house or just need something to help bring my mood up and get me to shake my booty and dance around the house.

Foreign Film Friday

Welcome to the second installment of Foreign Film Friday. Today’s movie is ‘The Good, The Bad, and The Weird’ a Korean Western. Yes, I did say Korean Western. There is a great new genre of movies called sushi-westerns coming out of Asia. These movies are Asian- they have Asian actors, themes, costumes, and ass kicking martial arts, and yet they are set in Old West American type towns. “The Good, The Bad, and The Weird” follows two bounty hunters- one ‘good’ - Woo-sung Jung and one ‘bad’ -...

Wise, Witty, and Wacky Wednesday

Today’s blog leans towards the wacky side of Wise, Witty and Wacky Wednesday. My son found the Old Spice Guy on youtube- he answers twitters- boy child and hubby spent more then an hour watching the videos. Today I shall share one with you. So, the question is, if your voicemail message could say anything- which it can in reality- what would you put? What adventurous, fun, crazy, thing would you be too busy to doing to...

Music Monday

Good Morning everyone, and happy Memorial Day. I wasn't sure what I was going to do for Music Monday- I didn't want to ignore Memorial Day- but I also don't have much to say, and so many have posted such eloquent and heartfelt blogs that my little Thank you to those who serve seems inadequate. So I asked my husband, who is ex- Army Ranger, what I should do. My husband who spent most of his time in the military causing as much trouble as possible suggested 'Blood On Risers'....
