Foreign Film Friday

I wanted to lighten things up a bit for my seventh Foreign Film Friday so I’m picking a kids movie “Kirikou and the Sorceress’ This is a French cartoon- so beautifully drawn it takes your breath away. It’s about a baby boy Kirikou who lives in a traditional African village- this means the kids are running around naked and the woman wear sarongs but no tops- this is in no way sexual, but simply how they live. Kirikou manages to outsmart the evil Sorceress who has been tormenting his village and...

Wise, Witty, and Wacky Wednesday

A year and a half ago I began to live my life from a place of fear and regret. A child in my care was placed back home- I knew it was the wrong choice, and I did what I could within the restrictions of my job to prevent it, as did my boss who is wonderful and listened to me rant and complain over and over again. The caseworker and the therapist were at odds (personally) and they both were more interested in their own egos then doing their jobs and this little girl suffered for it. She had...

Foreign Flim Friday

My sixth movie for Foreign Film Friday is sad get your tissues ready! It is a Bollywood which takes place in San Fransisco and is mostly in English. It stars Shah Rukh Khan- one of my favorite actors, and Kajol who I like a lot. This is a three hour epic which will have you laughing and crying tears of hope and sadness, joy and heartache. I’m not fan of sad movies, and thankfully the ending does bring everything together. I didn’t know it was so sad when I started watching it and then once I...

Foreign Film Friday

For my fifth installment of Foreign Film I have a British TV show for you- I love British tele 🙂 so I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of these. Last weekend hubby and I watched “People Like Us” a mock documentary. In true BBC fashion the humour is dry and sarcastic. This is an adult show more because it would bore kids then there is anything inappropriate in the show. The whole series is on two disks- BBC is all about leaving viewers wanting more. Hubby and I laughed a lot, and enjoying...

Wise, Witty, and Wacky Wednesday

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to write about today. So I browsed a quote site looking over the names and found Maya Angelou. I, as do many, admire Maya Angelou she is fierce and strong and beautiful and I always feel empowered when I read her work. Reading over her quotes I found this one. “One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” - Maya...
