I wasn’t sure what I wanted to write about today. So I browsed a quote site looking over the names and found Maya Angelou. I, as do many, admire Maya Angelou she is fierce and strong and beautiful and I always feel empowered when I read her work. Reading over her quotes I found this one.

“One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” – Maya Angelou

I had never thought about it before but it does take courage to be kind and true to ourselves when we don’t know how others will react, to be generous we must be brave enough to give away something we might need later.

I burst with pride every time I see my children do something kind when others might just walk on by, comforting a friend who was teased on the playground, setting aside cans from the schools recycling for the man who lives out of his truck and comes by once a week.

One example of this is from an Irish PSA- I adore this commercial and the courage they portray is inspiring.

I think it is the small acts of courage that change the world the most. What do you think?
